Course Description:
This 3-day course is approved by the Interservice Environmental Education Review Board (ISEERB) and provides instruction on negotiation, mediation and communication skills required to achieve productive agreements with public and regulatory stakeholders regarding environmental compliance, risk management, cleanup and restoration issues.
The overarching goal of this workshop is to make attendees knowledgeable and skilled in the negotiation process and enable them to become more comfortable, confident and successful in their environmental negotiations. The class focuses on the human, organizational and public aspects of negotiation and provides instruction on building constructive relationships and applying effective partnering techniques with stakeholders and installation management. Case studies and group exercises provide an opportunity for every student to apply the knowledge, tools and techniques presented.

Personnel Eligible:
Military and civilian personnel in working in environmental compliance, installation restoration, natural and cultural resources and BRAC planning responsible for communicating and negotiating with environmental regulators, the public, or their respective commands regarding environmental matters. Environmental management personnel are strongly encouraged to attend.
