The Department of Defense (DoD) Partners in Preservation (PIP) program establish a Cultural Resource Management support network within the DoD, following the successful models of natural resource support networks such as DoD Partners in Flight (PIF), DoD Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (PARC), and the National Military Fish and Wildlife Association (NMFWA). PIP provides a coordinated framework for addressing cultural resources management and research across the DoD landscape. Through local, regional, and national networks of Military Services and other federal and state agencies, PIP directly supports mission requirements, maximizes the effectiveness of limited program resources, and benefits cultural resources locally, regionally, and nationwide. It also creates a network of experts to serve as a clearinghouse of information, supporting the mission and connecting DoD cultural resource managers (CRMs) in the field with experts.
Our Vision:
To establish a premier preservation network of local, regional, and national partners, Military Services, and other federal, tribal, and state agencies, to support cultural resource mission requirements for the DoD, maximize the effectiveness of military installation resources, and benefit cultural resources locally, regionally, and nationwide.
