How to Purchase Sustainable Products
There are several Federal resources for purchasing sustainable products. The FedMall offers products that are energy efficient, water conserving, made with recovered/biobased content, or have other environmentally preferable characteristics. Sustainable products are easily identified in FedMall with a ‘green tree’ logo. Purchasers can also refine searches for sustainable products in FedMall by selecting the ‘green tree’ icon under General Attributes. This will allow purchasers to shop specifically for products that are environmentally preferable. For more information on purchasing sustainable products from FedMall, Click Here.
The General Services Administration (GSA) Buy Green Products, Services, and Vehicles webpage provides guidance for purchasing sustainable products and services managed by GSA. In addition, the GSA’s Green Procurement Compilation provides a resource to search over 5,700 brands and more than 300,000 products that align with federal sustainability requirements.
The Defense Acquisition University (DAU), Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have created several resources to assist customers in the procurement of sustainable products. These resources included training materials and guidelines for identifying sustainable products.
