GA - Georgia Land Conservation Partnership
The Governor's Advisory Council for the Georgia Land Conservation Partnership was created on December 30, 2003 by Executive Order. The Council is to oversee the development of Georgia's first comprehensive, statewide land conservation plan.

The plan is to consist of:

  • "State acquisition of large, strategic parcels of land, including fee or less than fee interests;
  • State grants to counties and cities for greenspace acquisition and protection; and
  • State support and incentives to increase land conservation by private landowners, land trusts, and philanthropic organizations."

Given that much of the land near Georgia's military installations provides conservation benefits it is likely that this plan under development will have benefit to the military. The Council's report and recommendations are due to the Governor by August 31, 2004.
